On the 9th of July, 4B took me along to a music workshop at Shoeburyness Highschool. We had to walk all the way there and back, but the children behaved extremely well and were safe along the roads. Luckily, I was tucked away in Miss Barrick's bag!
When we got there we were led to a music hall where we got to see lots of interesting instruments.
Some other Primary schools arrived shortly after and everyone started to prep their instruments. Year 4 took Ukuleles and another school even played violins.
Our Year 4 children played a range of songs they have been learning in their weekly music lessons. They played the instruments very well and sang beautifully. Myself and all the staff that went along were very proud of their efforts.
After the Primary schools had shared their musical talents, the Shoeburyness High School brass band treated us to some wonderful music. They played 'Let It Go' from Frozen and everyone sang along!
At the end of the workshop, we learnt that it was the conductors birthday. The Friars children erupted, shouting that it was Miss Barrick's birthday too! With that she was made to stand at the front and everyone sang happy birthday to them (she went a little bit red!)
Overall, we had a lovely day and hope that other year groups get to experience the same trip in the future.
